While nearing the end of my MAET journey, I can’t help but look back at the goals and objectives I had then and now.  The overall educational goal that I had when I began this journey; I want and still do want to achieve my degree.  This is part of becoming a life-long learner.

Since it has been a little over a year since I applied and began this journey, not much of my goals have changed.  I still want to fully engage my student’s learning by using various technologies that are available to them.  This was achieved but not the way I anticipated.  Through the various courses that I have taken I have learned that really using technology in the classroom is not just the devices students have but rather implementing tools the students have access to.  One such tool was Google Docs.  This is something that I have now fully integrated into my classroom and most likely would not have discovered if not for the program.

One goal that has changed is that I no longer want to stay in the classroom 100% of my educational journey.  While working towards my degree, colleagues have begun to ask me technology questions and various ways to implement technology in the classroom.  This is something that has made me want to become a technology facilitator at some point in my career.  As of now, I am quite content to be in the classroom and help my fellow teachers but in the end, I would like to transition into the technology facilitator role.

While my goals may have changed they also did not change.  What this means is that the overall goal is the same but the smaller goals that are used to achieve that goal are different.  My idea of what educational technology is defined as is not the same from when I started this journey.
